Product Overview
The IMS Track Pugmill is a refined affordable track mounted machine that offers the following:
- a quick fully hydraulic setup between transport and operating mode
- the advantage of self loading onto transporters and site mobilization
- a major applications for a Pugmill will be for producing Cold Emulsified Asphalt
When the device isn’t required as a pugmill, you can remove the pughead and use the machine as a 16 meter track conveyor that can be fed with either a loader, crusher or screener.

The IMS Tracked Pugmill comes equipped and fitted with a twin shaft mixer for high production and for anti-surging to produce material that is high quality when it comes to material blending for stabilizing road based materials. The materials can range from water, cement and lime coupled with being used for blending at asphalt plants, cold emulsified asphalt mixing (referred to as Cold Mix), all the way to Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) and flowable backfill. To help control the material that is being fed, operators can utilize the variable speed conveys and the water supplier, which has its own water surge tank, along with the control gauges to maintain consistent flow to the mixing chamber. The cement and lime additives can be added by utilizing manually controlled from silos or alternatively from a fully computer controlled integrated system that operates between the pugmill and silo.

Conveyor
The conveyor in the IMS Track Pugmill is constructed in 3 latticed angle sections. The tail section includes a generous 8m³ feed hopper and the head section includes the conveyor drive , consisting of twin Sauer-Danfoss hydraulic motors coupled to a rubber lagged drive pulley with variable speed.
Diesel-Hydraulic Power Unit
The conveyor is powered by a Caterpillar C4.4 75.5kw liquid cooled Diesel Engine coupled with a triple hydraulic pump giving sufficient oil flow to drive the conveyor at maximum output. This allows the drive for the Pug Head to operate the crawler tracks and to operate the various hydraulic cylinders that the machine comes with.
Undercarriage
The undercarriage consists of the hydraulically operated crawler tracks coupled with an adjustable support trestle arrangement. This allows operators to vary both the feed and the discharge heights of the machine.
Pug Mill Head
The IMS Tracked Pugmill is designed to include twin mixer shafts which help with anti-surging and high production material blending. Each of the shafts comes fitted with replaceable 500 grade paddle tips that are rotatable through 180° to help equalize wear. The Tracked Pugmill drive consists of a hydraulic piston motor that is directly coupled with a Chain Final Drive that helps to give an auger speed of 100 RPM at a motor speed of 1850 RPM. The pughead dimensions in this case are 7.87’ (2400mm) long x 4.46’ (1360mm) wide x 2.74’ (835mm) deep. The augers are 5.9’ (1800mm) long x 2.09’ (640mm) diameter that produce() up to 400 tonne per hour (all of which is dependent on the material in this case).
Hydraulic Folding Mechanism
The folding mechanism in the IMS Tracked Pugmill is powered by hydraulics that allow for a quick site setup and a flexible approach to the transport of the unit. The hydraulic folding mechanism is designed in a way that protect the hydraulic cylinder piston rods when the machine is operational, provided a new level of safety.
Emergency Stop System
Each one of the IMS Track Pugmill PM 1050-16TB units come equipped with an emergency stop system straight from the factory. The system renders the plant inoperable when activated - a move which provides additional safety for the operator.
